1.0        INTRODUCTION

M.Sc. Social Work or Master of Science in Social Work is a postgraduate This course presents generalist foundation knowledge and skills essential to interpersonal practice while considering the community, organizational, and policy contexts in which social workers practice. It integrates content on multiculturalism, diversity, social justice, and social change issues, and it relies on the historical, contextual, and social science knowledge presented. The student's field experience and future practice methods courses will build upon the skills presented in this basic course. Throughout this course, students examine social work values and ethics as well as issues of race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, religion, and ability as these relate to interpersonal practice.

The MSc Social Work (Top-up) aims to extend and improve the understanding and competence gained via professional qualifications and to enhance the ability of students to think strategically about Social change within Social work.

This programme is designed for (Postgraduate) a Social work graduates and provides a means by which the continuing professionals and society needs of Development practitioners can be met.

 

This programme will broaden your specialist knowledge previously gained at a professional level. In particular, the module, ‘Social Work research project’ guides you to research into the key challenges Social Work professionals face in the social. This module aims to Social Work professionals with the necessary skills to undertake independent project work within a social management context. The Research Methods element provides you with an introduction to research, types of research methodology, formulating and planning a research project, data collection, analysis, and presentation of research findings based upon an actual overall social focused topic.
